Bamboo Floor Installation
Bamboo flooring, when installed properly, is durable and makes the home or office look elegant and refined. Sweet Hardwood Floors will come in, prep the area, and professionally install your new bamboo flooring. The process of installing bamboo is quite similar to the process of installing hardwood flooring. First our professional team will prep the installation area by making sure the area is flat, any previous floor layers are secured, and the subfloor is thoroughly clean. We want the bottom or old flooring to be in the best condition as possible before we begin. From here we install the bamboo flooring from one of three methods.
-Nail/Staple or Glue Down Method: This method is used a lot of times when hardwood flooring is the sub layer. Since bamboo is firm naturally it makes it difficult to use a regular hammer and nails to install it. To get the job done properly, Sweet Hardwood Floors uses electric hammers and staplers that can penetrate the bamboo flooring without causing it damage. The bamboo flooring can also be glued down to the subfloor to keep it in place. It is best to stay off the floor for at least 24 hours, so the glue can set.
-Glue-Seam Floating Method: When using this method an underlayment must be laid over the sub layer. This is done to protect the bamboo from the previous flooring. Sweet Hardwood Flooring, in the prep work, will also determine whether your floors will need a moisture barrier. If you do, one will be laid down before the bamboo flooring is installed. Next the flooring will be laid out and placed into position. From here, Sweet Hardwood Floors will glue the tongues and grooves of the bamboo pieces together. It will create a secure locking system. Again, you should stay off the floor for at least 24 hours to let the glue set.
-Glueless-Click Floating Method: By far, the least complicated method is the glueless click method. Sweet Hardwood Floors will float the bamboo flooring above the subfloor and slide them into place. No glue or nails are needed in this installation form. It is locked into place by the planks themselves. The pieces will remain connected with no problems.
